The Bard's Birthday
Anyone visiting the 8th grade classroom today might have thought they had been transported back to the 16th century. Today was the day to celebrate Shakespeare and all things Shakespearean. Some students from the 7th and 8th grade language arts classes performed dramatic readings (such as the famous witches' scene from MacBeth, shown here). Others chose to recite, sing and even dance to themed music. The finale to the birthday celebration was tasting many of the student prepared desserts which all were based Shakespeare's favorites - apples!
Appreciate the Art
What parent doesn't love to proudly display their child's artwork? At tonight's Art Fair, the school helped parents do just that! While beautiful artwork from the whole year was put on display this evening, one selection from each student's work was matted and framed and available for parents to purchase. Framing a painting or drawing turns a beautiful creation into a masterpiece!

Earth Day
Students celebrated creation in many ways today! We started the day with a mass in honor of Earth Day. The fifth grade did a great job with the liturgy. The first grade students decorated canvas bags that they will begin using in place of plastic bags. Finally, our fourth graders met up with their pre-school prayer partners and planted annuals together.

Veterans Visit Eighth Grade Students
What is a great way to bring a first-hand experience into the classroom: just finishing a unit in Social Studies class about World War II, Mr. Beck invited two local veterans to his classroom to share their experiences. Today, an important message about who real heroes really are was brought to the students through these gentlemen.
Sharing the Seder
Before dismissal for Easter break, all of the students in the school gathered together for a Seder prayer service. The students tasted the different food items during the service and learned the significance of each item. As part of their religion curriculum, the 6th grade students created Seder plates that were used during the ceremony.
